About the Dude
I was born, raised, and currently live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I'm 42 years old, and I've been working for the past 22 years as a Cash Courier, that is, I drive around in an armoured truck delivering money.
I enjoy the job, as it allows me to be outdoors rather that cooped up in a cramped little cubicle all day (not that there's anything wrong with that...it's just not for me). The interaction with my customers can be enjoyable, and the work itself, while sometimes physically demanding (those boxes of change can be a back breaker) is pretty straighforward. The nature of the work though adds an element of heightened interest compared to your average delivery job, as you have to constantly be alert and aware of everyone around you, because you never know which ones the bandits are until they introduce themselves to you.
Still, despite the fact that I like my work, it's not very stimulating, mentally speaking. Being the creative type, I find that there's something missing…
Why "The Dude's Corner"?
The name "The Dude" comes from a character played by Jeff Bridges in the movie "The Big Lebowski." I liked his laid back attitude towards life, and I enjoyed the character and the movie so much that I decided to sign my emails as "The Dude", and, logically, the name has now progressed to my website. The "Corner" part is exactly that: I've visited many websites in the four years that I've owned a computer, and although there are literally millions of them out there, I always wanted to have my own little corner of the internet. And now I do. Thanks for visition, and I hope you enjoy your stay.
