Setup: The article below was sent by email (quite a while ago, hence the "Schumacher" reference) to a show called "Wind Tunnel", a call-in talk show about racing on the "Speed" channel. Part of it was read on the air.

What is a Real Race Fan

A real race fan eagerly gets up early Sunday mornings to watch a Formula 1 race, knowing full well that it will most likely be another boring Michael Schumacher runaway win.
A real race fan drives for 5 hours to get to a NASCAR race, then puts up with multiple rain delays, 30 minute lineups for food, 20 minutes lineups to pee, and then drives another 5 hours the same day to get back home, and still wants to come back again next year because of the goose bumps he had the moment that all 43 cars started up their engines at the same time.
And finally, a real race fan goes to his local track, and will watch anything from stock cars to go carts, bikes to trucks, boats to lawn mowers, and will continue to watch even after his favorite driver is out, because racing is racing, no matter what you're racing.
